Description

The original section of this comfortable, charming home was built in 1906. The African thatch provides a cool haven in summer and in winter the oil heaters in each room, under floor heating in the main entertainment areas and the open fireplace make it cozy and warm.

It is surrounded by magnificent trees some 100 years old. The garden has numerous areas where guests can relax and its unique beauty remain even during winter season. The patio surrounding the pool is a great entertainment area where small children can safely play in the water, of course under supervision. You can follow our babbling stream through eighty acres of natural fauna and flora getting a real feel of the bush, watching the birds and the bees enjoying the flowers in our beautiful garden!

Bed & Breakfast Accommodation

Accommodation options include a choice of either one of the four guest rooms all built with three windows over looking the gardens. Three of these are bathroom en-suite and the fourth room has a private bathroom at the foot of the stairs. We supply a coffee / tea tray in each room. All the beds have electric blankets in winter.

Kosmos Kamer and Die Bo Kamer
Two very spacious rooms, can sleep 5 0r 6 guests each, one above the other on the East side of the house with separate entrance. (Self Catering at pool deck and bush kitchcen for own  braais available)

Tuin Kamer and Voëltjie Kamer
Two smaller cozy rooms on the  west side of the  house,en suite bathrooms- also one above the other.

Semi Self Catering Accommodation

La Cabernon in the garden This  option is for two or three guests, in our garden semi self catering cabin - stone under thatch .

Log Units high up in the tree tops- Two interesting units next to each other but completly separate and private for two guests -with small kitchenette.

Breakfast

A big breakfast is included in the room rate and served at your leisure on the verandah overlooking the beautiful garden. The menu consists of traditional and health-conscious breakfasts with Mara's wonderful homemade jams and chutneys not to mention the farm butter!

We are conveniently situated on Route R512, being the extension of Hans Strydom out of Randburg towards Hartbeespoort Dam. You will see our Yellow gate number- K51- between Lanseria and Broederstroom, en-route to Sun City. We are part of Rhenosterspruit Conservancy and is easily accessible to many interesting places in the area as the World Heritage Site - The Cradle of Humankind - and the ever enjoyable Crocodile Ramble! We are located within the ancient Cradle of Humankind a world heritage site, close to Hartbeespoort Dam. Birds and bee's in a beautifull garden with lots of shrubs and flowers and trees as in a forest! Water stream through property and long walks on 34 Hectre Fauna & Flora ! Enjoy own braai at sunset on pooldeck!

We share our home with our guests. We have a communal TV room where Mara has a marvelous collection of books, magazines and games. Some of the magazines are from way back; the 1950's! Other facilities include laundry on request, satellite television in each room and secure parking. Picnic baskets or light lunches can be arranged. We pride ourselves on the service we offer and make sure that guests will feel absolutely at home.

Directions

From Randburg JHB, take Hans Strydom extending into route R512. From Lanseria turnaway a further 11km on right side of road. From Pretoria, carry on with Church Street untill Roos se Oord, over Crocodile River, turn left on R512 and 6.5 km up the road on left side of main road. Gate K51.
